3.1. Obligations of Meetic

Meetic will remotely and by electronic means supply an online dating Service via Internet. Meetic's purpose is not to advise on or broker either marriage or long-term relationships. Meetic's activity does not include organizing offline meetings, supplying access to the Internet network, or providing an electronic communication Service to the public. Consequently, Meetic has no legal obligation to identify Members when they connect to the Meetic Internet site or to monitor content published by Members. Because Meetic is technically incapable of providing such Services, Meetic does not undertake contractually to identify Members or to moderate in respect of content which they publish under their own responsibility.

Meetic cannot be held liable for false declarations made by a Member. Therefore, it is imperative that Members take certain precautions when arranging to meet up with another Member. Meetic assumes no responsibility for meetings between Members of Meetic, on Meetic or during meetings between Members and/or non-Members as a consequence of the use of the Meetic site and Services. In addition, on a first date, it is recommended that you tell someone close to you and choose a public place (coffee place, pub, restaurant etc.).

- To act fairly in respect of Meetic and other Members;

- To respect the intellectual property rights relating to content supplied by Meetic and by other Members;

Without prejudice to the provisions of the Article "Termination", Meetic shall, where the Member fails to comply with one or more of these Essential Obligations, be entitled to terminate the contract and will definitively delete the account of the Member concerned.

Article 4. Meetic Payment terms

The use of the Paid Services assumes that the Member has a subscription. Members can acquire a subscription either by using credit card (on the Internet or by telephone), or while participating in games or Services proposed by Meetic through their Audiotel Services.

The prices and the terms of payment for the different Paid Services are displayed at all times on the Meetic website, including at the point when the member chooses to make a purchase.
To see details of all Meetic services, click here.
The activation of a Meetic subscription on a member's account occurs as soon as, or a few moments after a valid transaction has been completed (successful online transaction).
The Member can contact Meetic at any time to cancel their subscription. The cancellation will take effect from the expiry date given for the active pass, in accordance with Article 8, 'Termination', below.

Upon expiration of a subscription, such subscription shall, except where the Member notifies termination thereof to Meetic at least 48 hours before the subscription's expiration date, be renewed on the same subscription package. In such cases, the renewal shall be performed in accordance with the manner of payment originally chosen by the Member, at the price rate of the subscription to which the Member originally subscribed. For the avoidance of all doubt Members can avoid having their subscription auto-renewed if they contact Meetic 48 hours before their subscription expiration date to terminate their subscription.
The Member can cancel their subscription at any time, with termination taking effect from the end of the validity period covered by the last monthly payment made.
In the event that a member wishes to upgrade to a CONNECT PASS and/or SELECT PASS while they have a currently active Meetic-Pass, then the following conditions are observed:
If the Pass is upgraded during day 1-10 of the existing monthly period: the member will be charged immediately for the cost of the upgrade for the month or months remaining in the member's existing subscription period.
If the Pass is upgraded after day 10 of the existing monthly period: the member will be charged immediately for the cost of the upgrade starting from the beginning of the next monthly period. The remaining days of the current monthly period (a maximum of 20) are upgraded for free.

An upgrade to CONNECT PASS and/or SELECT PASS while the member already has an active Pass amounts to a new subscription, and as such automatically cancels and replaces the existing Pass under the following conditions:

When the upgrade is purchased in the final 20 (twenty) days of any monthly period of an existing pass; or during the final month of an existing pass; or if the existing pass is valid for 1 month only, then the new Pass purchased will be dated from beginning of the next monthly period of the existing Pass (or the date of expiry of the existing Pass if sooner), and will be renewed on a monthly basis from the expiry date of the upgrade purchased at the given price of the CONNECT PASS and/or SELECT PASS chosen.

When the upgrade is purchased in the first 10 (ten) days of any monthly period of an existing Pass (except during the last month, or if the existing Pass is valid for 1 month only), the new Pass purchased will be renewed on a monthly basis starting from the expiry date of the upgrade purchased, not the expiry date of the initial Pass, at the given price of the CONNECT PASS and/or SELECT PASS chosen.

Members can also subscribe to smartphone application. These applications can be provided by other service providers (such as iTunes or mobile services providers) and therefore may be subject to other payment terms and conditions than those used and available to Members on Meetic. Any such applicable terms will only be apply to one-off purchases and all relevant terms and conditions associated with these payments will be brought to the attention of the Member prior to purchase.

For the avoidance of all doubt, purchase of a subscription to smartphone application or other mobile service(s) will not enable the Member to use Paid Services on Meetic.
